Brief Description: This exciting eight hour full day guided tour by luxury SUV or van will take you to Muir Woods National Monument ; home of the ancient Redwood trees and to the charming coastal town of Sausalito. This custom tour is also combined with a fully guided and personalized tour of San Francisco.Detailed Description: The morning itinerary is usually from 9 AM to 12:30 PM approximately but can be customized and personalized to your tour needs and preference.
After a complimentary pickup at your hotel, you will travel on scenic highway 1 or via Mill Valley on the way to Muir Woods forest to marvel at the ancient redwood trees, some trees are over 1000 years old and are extremely tall. Your personal tour guide will give you a comprehensive introduction about the ancient redwoods and Muir Woods park before you go on a self-guided and walking tour tour in the forest. Tour guides are no longer allowed to guide inside Muir Woods park to preserve serenity and tranquility. The hike is rather easy and the trail is pretty much flat and accessible to everyone. There is a 1/2 hour easy loop, a 1 hour loop and even more challenging trails for nature lovers but there is a 15 minute easy loop as well. The largest trees are actually close to the main entrance where no hiking is required if you have mobility issues. These redwoods trees are located by the restaurants, gift shop and coffee shop. The amazing atmosphere and energy in this ancient forest is recommended to everyone as much as mediation. The father founder of Muir Woods and USA first National Parks John Muir says “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul”.
You will also get to visit Muir Beach overlook located off California scenic highway 1. The coastal area is subject to fog but in a clear day, the views are spectacular and a short hike is recommended to the tip of the cliff overlooking Muir Beach and the rugged coastline between Stinson Beach and San Francisco.
After a 25 minute scenic drive from Muir Beach or Muir Woods park, you will get to the coastal town of Sausalito where you can visit the houseboats community and enjoy lunch in downtown Sausalito. There are oustanding restaurants with beauftul views of San Francisco Bay. You may also decide to enjoy your lunch break at one of San Francisco’s restaurants of your choice. Your tour guide will be on hand and make more suggestions based on your taste and preference.
After your break, your knowledgable and passionate tour guide will show you San Francisco iconic sights and some hidden gems including the Golden Gate Bridge , Baker Beach, Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach, Alamo Square, the famous Lombard Street, North Beach, San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Angel and Treasure Islands, the Fisherman's Wharf and Nob Hill, Chinatown and Union Square, Haight-Ashbury , Twin Peaks, the Palace of Fine Arts, Historic Presidio and much more.

“San Francisco & Muir Woods Custom Sightseeing Tour”
We spend a superb day together with Patricia and San Francisco Torus. Patricia made us feel, as if some relative would be taking us through SF and its surroundings. Everybody enjoyed Patricia’s broad knowledge on historical as well as socio-cultural backgrounds of the bay area.
We highly appreciated Patricia’s sensitivity towards the interest point of our three teenagers. And finally, Patricia understood that touring SF and Muir Woods was for us as important as some chasing up of some old family roots in Ross, Marin County. Thus, thanks to Patricia’s personal effort, San Francisco Tours lived up to our expectations completely! Our rating is eventually "six stars" ;-)
